What is an AI Estimator?
An AI Estimator is the estimating role performed end to end by artificial intelligence. It reads an incoming enquiry, does the take-off, selects sections from your system library, prices the job at your rates, produces the elevation and cutting list, and writes the quotation. How is this different from estimating software we already looked at?
Estimating software gives you somewhere to put numbers once you have worked them out. An AI Estimator works them out. With a tool you are still the person reading the drawing, choosing the sections and doing the arithmetic — the tool only speeds up the typing. The difference shows up in the clock: a tool takes hours off nothing, this takes four to six hours down to five to ten minutes.
Will it replace our estimator?
Not the role — the headcount, if that is what you want. A complex enquiry gets the same computed take-off as a simple one, which is what lets a desk run leaner: teams can often handle the same quoting volume with up to 80% fewer estimators — a team of 20 down to around 4. The BOQ it produces is 100% accurate to the profiles and accessories you have loaded, computed from your system library rather than estimated. Every quotation still gets a human review before it goes out.
How it works
What can it read?
PDF drawings, DWG and DXF, spreadsheets and BOQs, photographs of hand sketches and job sheets, and plain WhatsApp or email text. The bar we hold ourselves to is: if a human estimator could work from it, it should be able to. Where something is genuinely unreadable it says so instead of guessing.
How does it know our sections and rates?
You give us your system library, section weights and price list during setup, in whatever shape you keep them — a spreadsheet, a supplier catalogue, an old quotation. Everything is priced against those. Change a rate and every quotation issued afterwards uses the new one.
How accurate is the take-off?
The geometry is deterministic. Once it has the sizes and the system, cut lengths, glass sizes and weights are computed rather than estimated — the same enquiry always produces the same numbers. The judgement is in reading the enquiry correctly, which is exactly why a human reviews every quotation with each assumption listed.
What happens when an enquiry is incomplete?
It asks a specific question. Most enquiries arrive missing something — glazing spec, finish, whether installation is in scope. The failure mode we design hardest against is a guess presented as a fact, so ambiguity comes back to you rather than into the total.
Does it do cut optimisation?
Yes. Cuts are nested into real stock bar lengths and the off-cut percentage is stated rather than replaced by a flat wastage allowance. In the worked example on this site, six windows produce 186.58 m of cut length across 35 bars of 6 m at 11.2% off-cut, with both bead lengths nested onto a shared bar.
Can it handle revisions and re-measures?
Re-issue the enquiry with the new sizes and the whole set re-computes as a new revision, keeping the old one. Because nothing was typed by hand the first time, nothing has to be re-typed the second — which is where most of the time goes on tender work.
Fit and setup
What sizes of fabricator is this for?
It earns its place wherever quotations are a bottleneck — typically from one estimator upward. A single-estimator shop feels it fastest, because that person is the constraint on the whole business. Larger plants get more absolute hours back but take slightly longer to load the data.
What do you need from us to start?
Your section library or supplier catalogue, section weights, current rate card, and about ten past quotations so we can match the format your customers expect. If some of that lives only in someone’s head, getting it into a file is step zero — worth doing regardless of what you decide about us.
How long does setup take?
The demo runs on your enquiry the same week. Full setup depends entirely on the state of your data: a clean price list is days, a decade of inconsistent spreadsheets is longer. We look first and tell you which one you have.
Does our team need training?
Your estimator learns one review screen. No modelling, no CAD to drive, no new file format. The people who take longest to settle are usually the ones expecting it to be harder than it is.

What does it cost?
Packages and prices are not published on this site yet. We would rather show you the estimator running on your own enquiry and then talk about what it is worth to you, than anchor the conversation on a number before either of us knows the fit. Is 10x realistic?
As capacity arithmetic, yes — a five-hour quotation becoming a ten-minute one is a thirty-fold change in the hours it consumes. As a promise about your revenue, no, and we will not make it. Winning more work depends on your prices, your market and your follow-up. The ROI calculator deliberately stops at capacity.
Where does our data live and who can see it?
Your enquiries, drawings, rates and quotations are yours. They run your estimator and nothing else — not used to train a shared model, not shown to other fabricators, not sold. You can export or delete them. We hold no security certifications and will not imply otherwise; ask the specific question and we will answer it in writing.
What does a live demo actually involve?
You send one real enquiry — the messier the better. We run it on the call, and you watch the quotation, elevation and cutting list come out. About thirty minutes. You keep the output whether or not you go further, and there is no card and nothing to install.
Do you quote fire-rated work, and do you certify it?
We quote fire-rated doors and screens against a specification you provide, including seal runs and the ironmongery schedule. We do not test, rate, approve or certify fire-resistant products — that comes from your system supplier and your certifying authority. More on fire-rated work.
